Techem, a leading energy service provider for the real estate industry, has acquired a majority stake in inexogy smart metering, one of the largest competitive meter operators in Germany. The completed investment by Techem in inexogy includes a growth path for the next five years. Within this framework, 320 million EUR will be invested in the installation and operation of intelligent metering systems. The goal is to make the energy system more efficient and sustainable in the coming years with data from 1.5 million smart metering systems.
The two companies complement each other perfectly: Techem brings its extensive experience in digitization, decarbonization, energy efficiency, as well as an international portfolio of over 13 million residential units. With financial support from Techem, inexogy will significantly expand its existing partner business areas such as dynamic tariffs and prosumers while assisting network operators to fully equip their network areas with intelligent metering systems.
Another key focus of the partnership lies in tapping into new shared customer segments such as residential and commercial properties, industrial buildings or retail segments along with further expanding Techem’s digital platform. This platform provides all data related to properties for housing associations centrally and will comprehensively integrate metering operations moving forward.
„Smart meters are key to a sustainable, digitally controlled and cross-sector optimized energy supply,“ said Matthias Hartmann CEO of Techem Group. „Our common goal is clear: we want to make the efficient and digitized rollout process in Germany as uncomplicated and easy as possible.“
„We are pleased to have such an established partner like Techem by our side,“ commented David Zimmer CEO of inexogy. „Together we can combine our expertise and further advance Germany’s Smart Meter rollout.“ In particular focus is one of inexogy’s previous services – tenant electricity models that integrate generation plants along with modern charging infrastructure into multi-family homes benefiting residents with lower electricity costs.
The partnership between Techem and inexogy creates a central player for digital transformation within German energy sector that combines transparency efficiency making renewable energies accessible for households businesses alike.
